We imagined all the cool things that could be accomplished by two cores on the same CPU. It wasn't long before we started hearing about quad-core chips that would soon be available to satisfy our always-hungry-for-more craving for speed. Dual-core machines are fast, so just imagine what a quad-core would be like. Even then we started to hear rumors about more cores. Would it be an eight-core machine sitting on our desks? In our wildest imagination it might be a sixteen-core, but who really thought that was a possibility? Intel did. And they have been working on the theory that more cores are a good thing. If two cores are good, and four cores are awesome, what do you call an 80-core computer? Mind boggling!!! March 23 Broken PipesI came across an interesting idea while browsing on the web. Yahoo Pipes is a web application that can take multiple feeds and combine them into a single feed that can be published. Filtering is available to get rid of the bits that don't interest you. It sounds pretty cool. Unfortunately, I get a System Error dialog when I try to use it. I hope they get it fixed. I'm BackIt's been a while since I posted anything on my blog. I have been recovering from surgery that had a couple of nasty complications. I won't go into it; it wasn't pleasant. Now that I'm up and around a little more I should be able to find something to say a little more often. |
